This is the Will of God

ree

Sometimes we overcomplicate things. As believers, we question certain paths in our life. We ask things like, “Should I move to this city?” “Should I take this job?” “Should I marry this person?” “Is this God’s will for my life?”

While we should certainly consult God in all we do, often, we overlook the basic will of God in our lives. Paul said this in 1 Thessalonians 4:3-7: “For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.”

At times, we become consumed in choosing the right physical path while not showing much concern with taking the right spiritual path. But I’ve found that when we take the right paths spiritually, God automatically aligns the physical paths perfectly. If you are walking in God's will by living holy and set apart, He will do His part in guiding us to the right spouse, location, or career.

God sees all and knows all. He sees every path and possibility that we see, along with many other avenues and outcomes that we do not see. When we are not certain of what earthly decision to make, first, let’s make sure that path doesn’t oppose God’s commands. And if we don’t see that the decision contradicts scripture, but we are still not sure what to do, we can always pray.

A default prayer of mine is simply asking God to lead me down the right path– asking Him to open every door that He agrees with and to close every door that doesn’t please Him. But the thing is… we’d better be ready for what doors He opens and closes. Sometimes God opens doors that we don’t want to walk through or He’ll close doors that we desperately want to stay open. Yet, if God is loving and perfect in all He does, we must trust that He will always lead us down the right paths.

And although we might not know all the details of what’s on the path, we can guarantee that God will always usher us towards holy living. The very popular scripture Psalms 23 written by David says, “He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness.” So, God will lead us to paths of peace, restoration, and holiness. Proverbs 3:6-7 tells us to “Trust the Lord with all our heart, and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

It is God who will direct our paths. It is God who we must trust to lead us towards peaceful, prosperous, good, and righteous paths. And He will do this because of His great love towards us. A good father will never lead his daughter or son astray. Good parents will always point them in the right direction, and if the child is headed down the wrong path, they will always warn their children and do all they can to get them back on track. How much more will our Father in heaven lead us down good wholesome paths?

Reader, if you find yourself at a crossroad, if you need to make a decision about something that you are not sure about, seek the Lord. But don’t overcomplicate God’s will for your life. His will is that you be sanctified, which means holy. His will is that you flee from lust, pride, wrath, division, gossip, and all unholiness.

God’s will is that you abide in Him and learn of Him. God's path for you is just like His commandments. God's commands and path is never to harm you but to prosper you. It is to to make your soul, mind, and body well. I'm so glad that we have an all-powerful, loving Father leading us. A Father who only wants the best for us. So, let's follow His will and allow it to be for our good and well-being.

Short and sweet for you today. I pray this message has blessed you! God's will for you is clearly indicated in scripture. Let's follow the path to wellness and be made whole. Until next time, take care.
