...Then the Lord called to the man clothed in linen who had the writing kit at his side and said to him, “Go throughout the city of Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament over all the detestable things that are done in it.”
Ezekiel 9:3 NIV
Are you grieving? You should be... there's sin in the land. There are things transpiring in our country, in the world, that God opposes. Things that are detestable to Him. In this text, anyone who did not grieve, due to the detestable acts committed, were destroyed.
It doesn't state that they were destroyed because they did something detestable. It states they were destroyed because detestable things happened, and they didn't find it detestable. In essence, they were either indifferent about the sin or they found it acceptable.
So, if my friend is a liar, and I am okay with that, then God is not pleased with me. If my friend is prideful, and I am indifferent, then God is not pleased with me. We should not be okay or indifferent about something that God is not okay with. If you are indifferent to something God takes a clear stance on, then you are not on God's side. If you are in favor of what God is opposed to, are you not God's opposer?
Do you dare stand against God? Loving what He hates and hating what He loves? This isn't a matter of preference. This isn't something as trivial as an ice cream flavor. We can disagree on that and still be compatible. But God made it utterly clear in this text that those who hated what He hated were saved and those who were indifferent or loved what He hated were destroyed.
Hot or cold? Pick a stance (Revelation 3:16). Time is of the essence. This text in Ezekiel is a prophetic warning. Either we will completely align our thinking and behavior under the submission of God, or we will not. There is no in-between. We cannot say I agree with God on this sin, but not so much on that one.
Whatever God declares as sinful, is just that. I pray that we can love what God loves and hates what He hates before Christ makes His return. Let's study the Word and seek God in prayer so that we know His likes and dislikes (Proverbs 6:16, Revelation 22:15, Psalms 45:7 name a few!). The Day is coming. You and I have both been warned. Let's get in alignment. Please join me in a quick word of prayer:
Father, we come to You today, thankful for You and Your Son Jesus. We have heard Your Word and we are aware of Your displeasure of people who are indifferent or opposed to the things that You love and hate.
Please forgive us if we have stood in opposition of You or if we have been indifferent. Help us to love what You love and hate what You hate. May our foreheads be marked by the blood of the Lamb and may our minds align with His.
As we read Your Word, show us what You love and show us what You hate. Then Lord, please give us Your Holy Spirit and the correct heart, mind, and soul to adjust accordingly. Thank you for this divine opportunity. It is in Jesus' name that we seal and send this prayer. Amen.
Alright yall, that's it. Be blessed! If it's God's will, I'll see you next week.
