A Lake Sailing Love 2.0

As I thought about what to write this week for Write On! Wednesday, an article I posted in September 2021 came to mind. It was called "A Lake Sailing Love". I'd like to revisit that message today.
In Mark 5, we learn about a demon-possessed man who lived among the mountains and graveyard. Often, the people of the country attempted to bind the man ... I suppose for their safety and his ... but the man would always free himself from the chains and shackles. He'd liberate himself only to cut himself with rocks.
When the man saw Jesus, the spirit within him recognized Christ as the Son of the Most High God. He begged Jesus not to torment him. In response Jesus asked the spirit for its name. "Legion," it said "For we are many." (Mark 5:9). Jesus casted Legion out of the man, and Legion then jumped into a herd of pigs that ran and drowned in the sea.
After the people of the town heard of the demon possessed man being sane and “clothed and in his right mind”, they were frightened. They were so terrified of the miracle that Jesus had done that they asked Him to leave.
So, He did.
Jesus did not perform any miracles in that country except for the miracle performed for the demon-possessed man… and then it hit me.
Christ knew beforehand that He would sail across a lake and be rejected by the people there. But He went anyway. Jesus boarded a boat, set sail across a lake, and performed a miracle for one man… but that one man was worth the effort to Him. That one man was enough.
I wrote this article over four years ago to remind us that the love of Christ is a lake sailing love. It doesn’t matter if you are the only one on the shore. Our beautiful Lord and Savior will cross the lake to deliver a miracle just for you. He will cross the ocean for you. I am convinced that if you were the only human in the world throughout time that accepted Jesus as Lord, He still would have died just for you.
But I have two more things I'd like to add to this message. Just as Jesus was willing to put in the effort for one soul, we must do the same. Full transparency: There are times in this writing ministry that I feel ineffective. I have had moments of despair throughout the years when only one or two people engaged with the content I have shared.
Yet, if my Lord set across the sea for one man, certainly I can write for one man/woman. Certainly, you can hang in your ministry and do what God has called you to do regardless of attendance or participation because you never know how fruitful, effective, or life-changing your seeds are to that one person.
Although, the demon-possessed man received the only miracle performed in that country, that man went and told many others what Jesus had done for him. That one man helped advance the kingdom. That one person, those faithful few, the people God has entrusted to you, could also advance the kingdom simply by you planting the seed. Haven't we heard Jesus say how one tiny mustard seed can grow into something abundantly fruitful? (Matthew 13:32). Keep sowing people of God! And may God give the increase.
Lastly, do not let the glory of God scare you out of your own miracle. The people of the country asked Jesus to leave because they were so overwhelmed at the change they saw in the man. They were outdone from seeing the herd of pigs run down into the sea. I can only imagine how shocking that must've been for them.
But may we never turn Christ away out of fear of His glory being manifested. Instead, dear Lord, steady our hearts to accept the blessings You desire us to see. Be still our hearts! Let us stand and see the beauty God wants us to see without fear, but rather with praise, joy, and expectation.
Dead reader that's all I have for you today. May this message bless you and may God keep you. Until next time, take care.
